Call for Alberta Artists: Fluid Festival Artist Showcase 2015

This year the Fluid Festival collaborates with CADA/West, Canadian Dance Assembly, Alberta Dance Alliance and Dancer Transition Resource Centre to present excerpts of dance work from Alberta-based artists. This special showcase event, for presenters and artists, in the Theatre Junction Studio, takes place October 21, 2015, 6pm, during the Fluid Festival.

Apply Now

The showcase will be adequately supported with festival marketing, but please take note that technical elements must be kept to a bare minimum. Each piece must be between 7-15 minutes. A small reception will follow the showcase event.

Submit by July 27. Applications will be adjudicated by August 7, with notification emails going out that week. Link to video preferred. Please do not send a hard copy of video material. If you have any questions, please contact CADA/West Program Manager Jessica Wadsworth at office@cadawest.org

Updated Fees & Rates Standards

Safety, respect and financial security are established through recognized and agreed professional standards. Generated from national arts resources and CADA/West Membership statistics, our Fees & Rates Standards recommend a minimum rate for different types of dance work. April of 2015, CADA/West voted to increase minimum fees for dancers to refect a unifed national average with CADA-ON.

CADA/West Fees and Rates Standards

These Rates, used by numerous arts councils, facilitate contract negotiations and recognize the value of professional experience in the individual artist. We reinforce that a minimum rate is a starting point, not an end point!

Revised Basic Dance Agreement

A contract is the foundation upon which any employment situation builds success. Whether the contract is a single page or a 50 page document, it exists to serve us. As of 2015, we’ve divided the Basic Dance Agreement into 2 documents; a basic 3-page contract template & a 23-page set of guidelines:

Basic Dance Contract
Basic Dance Policy

The CADA/West Basic Dance Contract and accompanying Basic Dance Policy are available to our Members and the dance community at large. We invite all dance artists to take these documents with them into new employment opportunities—for reference, education and as a resource during contract negotiations.
